Breast milk is the best food for babies and also protects against infections and disease. Breastfeeding is best for mother’s health too – it reduces risk of breast cancer and helps to promote return to pre-pregnancy weight.

Accessing Breastfeeding Support Services
- No referral is required to access these supports
- Contact your local Public Health Unit if you need support from a lactation consultant with feeding your baby, or if you have questions about your health or the health of your baby.
- Service is available in-person during the week, dependent upon the location but often on a drop-in basis or as a home visit as needed.
